The influence behind this design is celebration, the world starting to open up again. An awakening, be who you are, accept others for who they are and want to be. Wear those fun brightly coloured clothes and get back out there with a renewed positive outlook and shine like a star.
Fionnuala Duffin is a visual artist originally from county Tyrone now based near the Strangford
lough shore of county Down.
Fionnuala holds a BA in Fashion and Printed Textile Design from the University of Ulster and formally worked as an interior designer and art gallery manager.
Her art work is not committed to any one medium instead preferring the freedom of experimental work jumping between spray print, acrylic, charcoal, oils and collage. Since covid she has been concentrating on painting, enjoying the therapeutic effects of focusing and getting lost in the process and thought. Her current work reflects memories and yearnings of the old world, free movement, live music, random experiences with new people and friends. Her paintings show interactions with people, dreamlike memories frozen in a past life immortalised in paint. Fionnuala’s painting style is playful, exaggerated, positive blending colourful layers of pattern and style. A lot of her paintings depict birds symbolising but not always obvious the feeling of a caged bird in these strange times.
