Design Inspiration

The linen trade played a pivotal role in the social and economic development of Belfast. The manufacture of linen at linen mills enabled what was a small town to grow into the pre-eminent city we have today. The linen trade experienced rapid growth in the 1860s and by the end of the 19th century Belfast was the linen capital of the world, being referred to as “Linenopolis.” We would like an Elmer that reflects this important history of the city acknowledging how it transformed the city into what we know today.
